Exhale to Inhale was born out of the belief in the power of yoga. Our mission is to bring this powerful tool for healing to survivors of domestic violence & sexual assault, while helping communities to develop the skills and knowledge to support them.

Since 2013 we have brought the healing power of yoga to over 3,000 survivors. At Exhale to Inhale we envision yoga through a trauma-informed lens, which supports survivors as they recover their self-efficacy and move towards healing.

As you may know, the residual imprint of trauma can remain in the mind and body long after the initial incident has occurred. Research has proven that yoga can serve as a therapeutic tool for survivors. Through our practice, survivors can reconnect to their bodies and bolster inner strength as they continue to cope with the long-lasting impacts of trauma.

In partnership with The New School’s Affect and Psychophysiology of Trauma Lab, Exhale to Inhale has collected data since 2018 to measure stress, bodily pain, and sense of agency before and after an Exhale to Inhale class. The data shows undeniable improvements across all three measures—and a consistency of practice shows a marked improvement in overall well-being.

By purchasing this book, you are standing with survivors of domestic violence & sexual assault and empowering them with this holistic tool for healing. And for this, we cannot thank you enough.
